Pretty Pale

I was born with my father's skin- pale and freckly when in the sun (not to mention we burn pretty easily as well). And I have spent years trying to cover it with bronzer, self tanner, and yes- even tanning beds, which I am not proud of! But I have always tried to embrace my pale skin, usually in the winter- but I always find myself looking for photo inspiration to remind myself that pale can be pretty too, if not prettier than tan! So for all of you palie's out there- this ones for you!

Plaid in the Bedroom!

Hi there! I'm Jessica from Arcadian Lighting, a blog and website where I write about the latest interior design trends and the lighting fixtures that go along with them. I was instantly inspired by the lovely plaid background on Blonde Recessionista, and I'm excited to be guest posting here today! I associate plaid with warmth and coziness, and the bedroom seems like the perfect place for this classic pattern. I hope you enjoy these ideas for adding plaid in the bedroom!

Plaid Decor

A simple black and white plaid blanket on the foot of this bed beautifully complements the gray color scheme of this bedroom. Plaid adds a masculine contrast to the feminine curves of the headboard, the cute stuffed mouse on the bed and the floral patterned curtains. The vine details of the†wall sconce†are also a romantic touch.

Plaid Decor

Squishy, comfy pillows in a chocolate and power blue plaid look very casual against the elegantly styled bedroom. Plaids in unconventional color combos help bring a more casual feel to any room, and lessen the drama or severity of more formal interiors.

Plaid Decor

A cool chaise gets a retro makeover with this black plaid upholstery. Combined with vintage posters and a shag carpet, monochromatic plaid gives this room a swanky vibe.

Plaid Decor

This eclectic bedroom sports crisp blue and white plaid bedding that pairs beautifully with the bright orange floral pillow. The colorful chandelier picks up on the warm accent colors used throughout the room.

Plaid Decor

A vibrant purple and yellow plaid headboard creates a gorgeous focal point in this bedroom. A light shade of grey plaid in the bedding helps to soften the bold effect of the headboard, along with the white and grey color scheme in the rest of the room.

Plaid Decor

Dark grey plaid works so well when used as a wallpaper and applied to only one wall. This decidedly more boyish looking bedroom feels very rustic and spacious courtesy of the stylish accent wallpaper.

Plaid Decor

This dresser is so chic when spruced up with a grey and white painted plaid pattern on the drawers. The simple lines and glass knobs would fit in well with any d√ącor style.

Plaid Decor

Perhaps an unexpected way to add plaid to your bedroom is by using this brilliant pattern as your carpeting. Such a strong pattern should be balanced with matching colors throughout the room. A pair of twinkling light fixtures above the bed add a whimsical touch, while the wall lamp provides the right amount of light for late night reading.

Fashion Friday: WAR EAGLE!

Today's fashion friday is dedicated to the Auburn Tigers. Although I did not attend Auburn University, the large majority of my family did- and therefore we spend the days after Thanksgiving watching the Auburn vs. Alabama game. I dedicate this post to the 2011 game. Enjoy!!!

**Please make sure to check back here on Monday for a special surprise!**

Thanksgiving State of Mind

When I think of Thanksgiving, of course I think of being with family and friends, but my mental picture of it all goes something like this.

Wearing cozy things like this...

Sleeping in a cozy bed like this...

Hanging out in cozy and warm kitchens like this...

And eating delicious things like this!

Product Review: Neutrogena's Revitalizing Lip Balm

As someone who is always in search of the perfect products, I bought yet another lip balm/gloss that, as always, I expect to be amazing. Good news- I didn't waste my money this time! I purchased Neutrogena's Revitalizing Lip Balm and have not looked back a day since.

I have actually had this for a few months now, and it kept slipping my mind to write this review. However, this product has not been a fad with me, that I loved and used for a few weeks and then discarded with the rest. This is the balm I will pull over on the side of the road and look for every morning, as no other balm in my bag (I estimate there are about 15 at any given time in my purse) will do.

This balm has the most natural and pretty color of any balm or gloss I have seen in a while. I have it in the color Sunny Berry, and have loved it! One swipe soothes chapped lips and leaves a light natural flush of color and it can be layered for a more intense splash of color. I hope to get this soon in Healthy Blush as well! So try this out, and let me know what you think!

Fashion Friday: Missoni

For this lovely fall Fashion Friday, I have chosen to highlight Missoni. A classicly funky designer, almost always reconized for the brightly colord zigzag stripe pattern that is so frequently used! Although the clothing is a big more outlandish than I typically would go for, I love the accessories, and adore the scarves in particular! So enjoy, and dont forget to check out the other Fashion Friday posts by clicking below!
