Facelift Time

Thanks to the AMAZING Jenn over at Munchkin Land Designs, my beloved blog now has a totally new look! I knew it was time, and after seeing so many gorgeous layouts on other blogs, I decided to take the plunge. Jenn was amazing, she somehow figured out exactly what I wanted, and looking back the emails i sent her, I have no clue how she understood by rambling and odd comments, but hey, she did it!

I could not be more thrilled, and the entire process took only a week, with extremely reasonable pricing. If you are interested in getting a new look, trust me, you will not be sorry you contacted her!

Product Review: Blow's Ready Set Express Blow Dry Lotion

Until recently, I was a Blow virgin, which sounds a lot cooler than it was... but I have seen the light! I was converted by their fabulous Root Lift Concentrate, which added some much needed bump to get me over my hair hump. So when I got my hands on their new product, the Ready Set Express Blow Dry Lotion, I was pumped!

The idea behind this product is to decrease blow dry time, frizziness, and fly aways, while increasing body, fullness and hold. I can typically be sold by a product that promises one of those things, yet alone all of them, so this product was an easy sell for me. Did it live up to all my hopes and dreams? See below for my reactions!

Hold my bangin' style all day? Yes please! That was my favorite side effect of this product, and the style wasn't destroyed by my constant running of my hands through my hair (I wonder why my hair gets so greasy...)! I can definitely see myself using this product for the long term, and the Lock and Mane arsenal of delish products just scored another huge point in my book ;)

Shameless Crazy Cat Lady Post

I have been DYING to do this post, and tonight I simply cannot stop myself, or deny you the pleasure of seeing my beloved. His name is SPENCER, although he prefers to be called Sir Spencealot. He is a huge 18 lbs, tuxedo, Maine Coon, and is absolutely fantastic! I am annoyingly obsessed with him, and our 1 year anniversary (pathetic, I am fully aware) is coming up on January 31st! I adopted him from the MD SPCA last January, and I could not have picked more perfect kitty for me!
Just chillin' and watching me get ready in the morning
Now let me give you a little background on my history with cats. I have had cats my whole life, but they have all really disliked me except for 2, Jem and Wild Kitty (both did not live very long- they were inside/outside kitties...). Anyways, cats don't tend to me like me always because I demand a lot of there attention and affection, and when they are around I want to snuggle them. But Spencer loves it! He is a lovebug, and my kitty soulmate (I had a friend say just soulmate, minus the kitty, not funny).

Enjoy a couple of his glamour shots :)

Blowin' Out, Brazilian Style...

I am sure most of you have at some point heard of the Brazilian Blowout (here out referred to as the BB), whether it be for its fabulous, sleek, silky and often times healthier appearing hair OR for the controversy surrounding the exact amounts of formaldehyde actually in the different brands and formulations of this hair process. Whatever you have heard, the process is still immensely popular, and I for one, am its #1 fan!

Now I understand that different brands may contain different amounts of actual formaldehyde, and that many claim to be free of any of it, but that does not mean there is ZERO amount of it in the actual formulation. I get my BB every 6 weeks, and my salon (which is fantastic, but shall remain nameless so that I can still get my appointments there when I want them) uses a brand that claims to be "formaldehyde free" although it actually contains about .00009%  in their formulation. To give that number some perspective, this external hair process has less formaldehyde than a can of coke, and we actually pour that directly into out bodies!

Before the BB
After the BB
Now for results like above, I think I can deal with .00009%. Yes, I realize there is still a possibility of harmful effects, but the BB really did change the texture and quality of my hair (not to mention it now only takes 6 minutes to dry my hair from soaking wet to totally finished). Do I know there are risks? Clearly. Will I stop? No. I am not sure what that says about me, but I guess only time will tell!

Vacation Mindset Wednesday

Welcome to my new Vacation Mindset Wednesdays! Yes, it would sound better with Monday, but I feel like I need a reminder that vacation is just around the corner more on Wednesdays, so there it is.

A little background, my family and I have gone to Charleston for the past few years during what was spring break from school, and now it is during the spring. 1st week in April, me and Charleston are going to get it ON!

Product Review: Blow's Blow Up Roof Lift Concentrate

Today I was able to snag a bottle of Blow's Blow Up Root Lift Concentrate, and I am thrilled! First off, I was really excited to try this line, as I am new to it, but I found that I was pleasantly surprised (all too often we are let down, aren't we?), so please watch on for my review of this oh so delish product!

Bottom line, anything that smells good and can add a little body pump to this 'do, is great in my book! Especially with my fine/thin hair, made more so by the Brazilian Blowout I get pretty regularly (got to tame those snarls!), this root lifting concentrate restored the body to my hair I think everyone craves!

Golden Globes, A Hair Review!

Miss Olivia Wilde
Olivia Wilde, obviously a gorgeous actress, sported an interesting hair choice at the 2011 Golden Globes. I think actresses have often chosen to do more of a traditional updo, or what tends to be considered to be a formal do, but Olivia broke free of that mold and went for  casual hair. Some might say too casual, I say THANK YOU. I may be alone in what I am about to say, but I don't care. I strongly dislike prom-like updos. No matter what. I don't think most people want to take a trip back to their high school, and I don't think the golden globes would be the time do that even if you did. Olivia's hair do of choice is simple, classic, and downplays the drama of her fantastic Marchesa dress! Although not full of body, Olivia's hair is super shiny, has a fantastic blunt bang (something that is very difficult to pull off, in my opinion), and moves like hair should! Not to mention that fantastic chestnut color.

Diana Argon
I don't think I even need to explain here. Pure perfection. Gorgeous accessories, fabulous curls, no updo, how can you go wrong here???

Hair Accessories!

If you are anything like me, you try to make yourself way more adorable than you usually feel by adding cute little accessories in your hair every now and then (that is, until the headband starts to pinch, the pins start falling out, etc. etc.). I have long searched for the perfectly cute, yet comfortable hair accessories that not only go with my daily outfits, but that can actually last through my days. Luckily, I have been able to nab a few I think are total winners!

This beautiful bow headband is super cute and so unbelievably comfortable that I wish it was something I could wear all the time... but I think because I do love it so much, I will just need to buy it in more colors! Although I do love this color, it makes me feel a little like Alice in Wonderland :)

Double Loop Bow Headband - Silk Charmeuse by L. Erickson

This gorgeous tortoise shell colored headband with a gold bit adds just enough preppy, equestrian flair to any outfit!

Headband with Gold Bit - 1 1/2"
Do not even get me started on the Emi-Jay hair bands. I discovered these this past fall and cannot believe I ever used regular hair bands before! These babies come in every color, don't leave a mark in your hair even after wearing it for hours, PLUS they double as a cute bracelet on your wrist until your ready to use it. This is a MUST HAVE in my book.
Emi-Jay Hair Ties (the pic doesn't do it justice)
These are just some of my hair accessories collection (my headbands almost cover the entire top of a lamp- I do adore them...), and I cannot wait to share some more later on! And just in case you are wondering, all of these items are available at Lock and Mane, along with tons of other gorgeous and unique hair accessories!

Product Review: Alterna Science of 10 Ultra Fine Hairspray

Looking for a brushable hairspray that ACTUALLY brushes out? Alterna's Science of 10 Ultra Fine Hairspray does just that! It is strong enough to actually hold hair in place all day, but fine enough that it doesn't look like you are living in the era of Hairspray, the musical... always a good thing in my book!

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a bottle and tested it out on myself! See below for my review :)

Looks like I may have finally found the hairspray for me! All the hold, minus the gunk.

Product Review: Alterna 10 Conditioner

I have finally gotten my new computer in and am now able to actually do video posts like a big girl! I am thrilled and I hope you all enjoy watching them as I enjoy making them.

For my first review video review is of the Alterna 10 Conditioner. In short, I loved it!

Please watch below for my reactions from right out of the shower, to the final product!

This is more of a luxury hair care product, with the full size bottle being $60.00, but I am so happy with the results of this conditioner, I found that it eliminated the need for most styling and finishing products (all of which can quickly add up to that amount)! This conditioner is available on the Lock and Mane website, along with many other delish products!
