This is the very first item I bought for my apartment. In fact, I bought it about an hour after I signed my lease. I walked into this little store, Paradiso , and fell in love with it (and basically everything else in the store). If you live in Baltimore, I HIGHLY recommend stopping by!
Anyway, this lamp was the beginning to my color scheme, and to be honest, we basically designed the rest of the apartment around this little lamp!
My father actually picked these up from Paradiso for me for a Valentine's Day present! I LOVE THEM!! Not only do I love the whole skull idea, but its also a little nod to my sorority days (what up CHI O!). They were the perfect little salt and pepper shaker for my apt, appropriately hardcore!
This little antique gold mirror my mother gave me, and to be honest, I really need to find the story behind it, if there is one. It is hung in my kitchen, and when this photo was taken, we realized it did such a cute little framing of my bed! Its just such a cute little feminine touch for the kitchen, and I also really loved the picture.
This little gem my mother bought me when I was in high school, when I was going through a particularly hard time in my life. She gave it to me for Christmas, and she said when she found it, she actually began to cry a little in the store, because the quote just struck her so.
"In my dream, the angel shrugged & said,
if we fail this time, it will be a failure of imagination
& then she placed the world gently in the palm of my hand."
I had to bring this piece with me when I moved, as it has meant so much to me over the years, and I love it being such a focal point in the room. It is one of those little details that remind you that you can get through anything, that you are strong enough, and that the bad times are only temporary, and don't let yourself forget it!
